Since joining Adaptive Environments in 2000 to expand their public transit work and to contribute to AE's urban project, Neighborhoods Fit for People, Chris has been a tireless advocate for universal design for safety and enjoyment of streets and transit regardless of age or ability. He has navigated miles of challenging Boston sidewalks to participate with communities in a project called Surfaces Fit for People that researches and analyzes the effects of different walking surfaces on pedestrians. Chris has conducted plan reviews, site inspections and trainings with "Big Dig" staff to improve the quality of the Project’s most visible legacy: its pedestrian realm.
