I cannot lift my foot high enough to reach the low step on the bus. The driver tells me that the lift is only for people using wheelchairs. What are the rules for my using the lift?
The transit provider must permit people with disabilities who do not use wheelchairs to stand on a vehicle's lift or ramp to enter or exit the vehicle, upon request. This includes anyone who has difficulty using steps.
If you continue to experience difficulty, you should ask for and make note of the bus number, route, time and date of the incident, so that you can report it to company management or customer service.
